The Farley blog

Not only do we love what we do, we also love to talk about it! Here are some of the news, views and reviews that we just couldn’t keep to ourselves.

Bigger and better: Hear more about our exciting expansion project.

The new chair racks at Farley

We’ve grown! We’ve been busy here at Farley HQ and have spread our already massive prop collection across another building so we’re now 25% percent bigger than before and have 100,000 square feet of showroom space packed to the gills with furniture, smalls, artwork, lighting and diningware for hire.

How to get the most from our stock search, and other features on our website.

A still of the Farley Prop Hire homepage

Welcome to the Farley website!  We’d like to think that we’ve created a intuitive and user friendly website but there’s never any harm in giving a few extra pointers here and there so that you can really get the most out of the site. There are some great features and we’d hate for you to miss them so here’s a quick guide to the most important ones.

Farley through the lens : The talented photographers behind our gallery images

Trying to choose which beautiful images to use in our galleries was a tricky task. We think we’ve put together a selection that shows the range of our collection and the multitude of ways in which the individual pieces can be used. We couldn’t have done this without the help of the talented photographers that we’ve worked with over the years. Here’s a run down of the individuals and teams that have made up the bulk of our gallery images. As our stock evolves, so do our images, and no doubt new faces will be added, so check back if you want to know more.

A fitting solution for our fine art collection: New racking and displays at Spiller

Fine art racking at Spiller

With the largest collection of oil paintings, prints, watercolours, abstracts, engravings and sculptures, our Spiller department is one of the finest collections of art outside of a gallery (in our humble opinion!), and better yet, everything’s available to hire. Storing the collection and then finding particular pieces is a challenge but we think we’ve cracked it.

The Secret Life of Objects: VIDEO

The Secret Life of Objects

We had this video made as a little documentary about us. It ended up being more about the props themselves. This is a 3 minute trailer for the real thing, which is a half hour long.

What it’s really like “working in a museum” – and the biggest difference!

How working at Farley is like working in a museum

I’ve been working at Farley for about 5 months now – and one of the most common things I get told by first-time visitors is how lucky I am to have a ‘museum’ as an office.

Because, while plenty of other prop hire companies still retain that ‘warehouse’ impression, Farley has managed to combine an antique prop hiring business with the atmosphere of a must-see museum; and here are five reasons why.
